Alternatives to cPanel

cPanel is one of the widely used domain management systems because it comes with a complete line of tools in an easy to use panel. There are lot of icons that links to different applications which make it easy to manage the domain name. So are there any alternatives to cPanel?
What are they?
Plesk is one of the popular alternative. It is pretty much cheaper and there are lot of web hosting companies who provides plesk to their customers but you will need to keep in mind that it does not have as many features as cPanel have. Most of the people are looking for alternatives that does not lock them into a paid system.
I have also seen people who are searching for open source alternatives. There is a wide range of free applications but they do not have the exact features like cPanel have. One of the options that is recommended by many hosting providers is Virtual Hosting Control System or VHCS but people believe in having a tool that is full of freedom.
Another option is not having a management tool at all. You can go with packages like phpmyadmin and awstats where you don’t need to have a central management tool. There will be a simple page that links to various web tools for that domain. This will need some HTML and nothing else for skipping the need of cPanel Web Hosting. Although it is not as user friendly as cPanel is, but you will not need that to manage your domain.
